Laughable Rice...If it Weren't so Dangerously Stupid

So this headline over at Newsmax.

Rice: 'Time for Iran to Change Its Tactics'

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Thursday it was time for Iran to change its nuclear course or be isolated, but Tehran remained defiant hours ahead of talks on the issue with the European Union.

The meeting between EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and Iranian top negotiator Ali Larijani looked like a last stab at easing a standoff over Iran's atomic activity before world powers act to sharpen U.N. sanctions against Tehran.

No one held out hope for a breakthrough after both sides reaffirmed what seemed irreconcilable positions.

Major powers are insisting that Iran suspend uranium enrichment as a precondition for negotiations on trade benefits.

"It is time for Iran to change its tactics. The international community is united on what Iran should do and this is to suspend (enrichment of uranium for nuclear fuel)," Rice said during a visit to Vienna.

When I read that  the first thing that popped into my head was "Why?"

Why on earth should they change their tactics?

They are literally getting away with murder, They are pouring money, people and weapons into Iraq kiling our soldiers and destabilising the country. They are heading at breakneck speed towards a nuclear weapon, all the west wants to do is wag fingers at them, Half our country wants to quit in Iraq and go home, OUr congress plays politicsa with funding our military and Europe is gutless.

Looks to me like Iran is getting what they want.

Hugh Finds a Treasure

It's moments like this that drive me listen to Hugh Hewitt.

Yesterday Hugh had just a delightful interview with Jon Voight.

I recommend that folks go and listen to it.

FIred for Citing Washington

A tenured college professor is set to be fired for simply sending out an e-mail to colleagues containing George Washington’s "Thanksgiving Day Proclamation of 1789.”

Already professor Walter Kehowski at Glendale Community College in Arizona has been placed on forced administrative leave and the school’s chief has recommended his termination.

"It simply boggles the mind that a professor could find himself facing termination simply for e-mailing the Thanksgiving address of our first president,” said Greg Lukianoff, president of the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE).

If Romney Flatulated, Hugh Would Applaud

Leave it to Hugh to drag me out of my blogging lethargy

I have listened to Hugh Hewitt’s radio program for going on 5 years now and I love the man’s show. Sometimes however, Hugh goes off the deep end. I have mentioned it before on my blog that sometimes Hugh is not only tone deaf, but frankly so wrong that I start to get embarrassed for him.

I won’t say that Hugh is “wrong” about Romney, though my suspicion is that he is, but I will say that his Romney cheerleading has reached a point where I am actually starting to be embarrassed for him. Hugh is of course a free agent and can root for whomever he chooses to be president. The fact that Hugh insists that he is not endorsing and has not decided however is so patently false however that its embarrassing to listen to him claim it.

I was listening to a replay of Hugh’s coverage of the GOP debate and…well I keep coming back to it. Hugh was just embarrassing.

“Oh did you here that? When Romney burped?!?! I Don’t think I have ever heard such a profound and well stated burp since Reagan.”

That was about the tenor of Hugh’s cheerleading during the debate.

Now to be fair Romney did have a good night though in my own opinion Duncan Hunter probably had the best night. I would wager if you evaluated who gets the biggest bump as a result of the night Hunter will come in first. But Hugh, Hugh, Hugh, do yourself a favor. Stop pretending that you aren’t in the tank for Romney please. It’s starting to get uncomfortable listening to you.

The French?

On Sunday France elected a pro-American, conservative named Nicolas Sarkozy as its new president.

The 52-year-old who beat back by 10 percentage points his Socialist rival, promises an unabashed Thatcherite agenda for France.

Sarkozy also replaces the embattled Jacques Chirac, a relic from an earlier age of French politics, who made anti-Americanism his hallmark.

Sarkozy campaigned on a platform of sweeping reforms, pledging to dismantle large portions of the social welfare state and to make France competitive on world markets again.

Maybe...and I know its a stretch...but just maybe there is hope for the French.

GOP debate

Ill say this...after last nights debate...

I cant wait for Fred Thomspon to enter the race.

Fred entering the race will clean away alot of the chaff.

Pathetic having some of those wanna be's up there taking up time and oxygen that legitimate candidates could be using more fully.

Right now I almost hate to say it but I find myself supporting Giulliani. He's teh ONLY candiate in the field now that could win in 08 and win he would. He would take New Jersey, Penn, New York. Those three are all nails in the Dems coffin.

I say this knowing that he is too liberal for my taste. Im about as conservative and it gets personally. I dont like his gun control stances of the past and I definately am not a fan of his pro choice stance...but so long as he follows through and appoints roberts and alito like justices I think he would be fine.

He has a proven track record of tax cuts and spending responsibility and one thing he has that none of the other have...

The guts to call out the dems and fight em.

Romney would be nothing more than warmed over Bush fortunately I dont think we will have to worry about Mr. used car salesman getting the nod. My guess is that Fred enters in the next couple weeks narrowing it down to pretty much him and Giulianni. Honestly I wouldnt object to a ticket with both of them  either one at the head of the ticket.

The campaign to oust Prime Minister Ehud Olmert shifted to the streets Thursday, with a rally in Tel Aviv drawing thousands of people calling for the embattled Israeli leader's resignation.

Olmert, criticized for his handling of last summer's war against Lebanese guerrillas, appeared to be quashing an incipient rebellion against him in the ranks of his Kadima Party — at least for now.

On Wednesday, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, a party heavyweight, called on him to quit, and another top party figure, parliamentary coalition chief Avigdor Yitzhaki, resigned to protest Olmert's refusal to step down.

The good news is I think its only a matter of time until he is forced to resign. It's my personal hope that Bibi takes his place.
