The British Shame

Been a while since I posted a blog.

I have been so busy lately I haven’t had the time to post...but recent events have compelled me to make comment.

The recent abduction of British Royal Marines by the Iranians is profoundly disturbing. The more that has come out about it the more it seems that gross negligence and shameless irresponsibility on the part of the British government has put 15 men into an impossible situation. Abandoned by their own people in a moment of conflict when feckless bureaucrats made the determination to order them not to return fire and defend themselves has created an international incident where this abomination of a government (Iran) has been permitted to abduct British soldiers without a fight and use them as pawns in the international arena. It is the Iranian hostage crises writ small.

Reports that these men are being questioned leave little doubt that the treatment of these men most likely violates any standard of the Geneva code that these self same hypocrites and thugs prate about in regards to their own people. Can anyone say torture?

What’s worse is that the utter inability of the British government to respond appropriately to this dilemma will only embolden the depraved mullah government to further acts of outrageous conduct.

The decision makers responsible for this fiasco ought to be ashamed of themselves. My thoughts and prayers go out to those abducted soldiers and their families. They deserved better from their government than what they got.

Why I am Skeptical About the Prospect of Success

This is why winning seems unattainable.

Iraq's government opened a probe Monday into a British-Iraqi raid on a police intelligence headquarters in southern Iraq that captured an alleged death squad leader and found 30 prisoners with signs of torture.

The raid took place Sunday at the National Iraqi Intelligence Agency building in Basra, Iraq's second-largest city, 340 miles southeast of Baghdad.

Inside, troops discovered 30 prisoners with signs of torture and abuse, including one woman and two children, the British military said in a statement. It did not elaborate.

An alleged death squad leader was captured along with four other suspected militiamen, Maj. David Gell, a British military spokesman, said Monday.

"They were suspected of serious criminal activity, including kidnap, torture, murder and involvement in roadside bomb attacks on multinational forces and civilians," Gell said.

The prisoners were not intentionally released but escaped after the operation, the British military said.

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki ordered an investigation into the raid and vowed to punish "those who carried out this illegal and irresponsible act," his office said in a statement late Sunday.

So a successful raid that nabs an Iraq Death Squad leader and frees some 30 people being torured by these vile scum...and the Iraqi government under Maliki think that the raid is the criminal act that requires investigation and punishment.

I don’t think I really need to say much more than that…yeah that pretty much sums up the cluster #%@$ that is Iraq. It’s also a pretty clear example of why I am skeptical about the possibility of success with out “surge” plan. The government itself is the dang problem. Criminal murderous thugs are running the show so how on earth do we suggest we are going to do anything about stopping the murders.

Now does this mean winning cant happen…no…but it sure does make it unlikely so long as we are going to allow scumbag, corrupt, thuggish criminals like Maliki to act like they are legitimate heads of state.
